The girls are four months old. I was trying to decide if that went by fast or not, and I decided it went by at about the speed that 4 months goes by - as fast as these last few weeks have been, the first few months were slow, mostly thanks to all of the hours we were awake.

Apparently babies this age are starting to understand sounds and will spend the next two months trying to mimic these sounds. Lexie is really "talking" to us, like full on sentences of goo goo's and ga ga's. So much so I often feel like she is getting frustrated that we don't understand her. Josie talks, though her sounds are more like little yelps as she tries to see how loud she can get. She gave James and I a real treat on Sunday and really laughed and laughed real laughs that totally blew us away and warmed our hearts. James was making her jump on his belly and I guess she really liked that. She's a real sweet heart with tons of smiles lately.

Yesterday, I found myself reminiscing of the first few weeks home where James and I were taking shifts and the babies were sleeping in bassinets in the living room. Whoever was up was able to watch TV, clean the kitchen and wash bottles, fold clothes and wash baby laundry. I would wake up every night to relieve James and find the place spotless and organized, baby burp cloths rolled neatly in the basket next to the couch, and stored in the bassinet for quick access, diapers stocked and swaddle blankets neatly laid out. I was trying to remember what I did all day and I definitely watched a LOT of television since I would change and feed the girls, then they would sleep forever until we woke them up or they cried to be changed and fed again.

So May Fourth was not only the girls 4 month birthday, its also known as "Star Wars Day" as in "May the Force/Fourth be with you." I hadn't really thought of that when I booked tickets to go see the Endeavour Space Shuttle since my dad would be visiting, but it worked out perfectly. We put the girls in little Star Wars themed onesies and had a wonderful time visiting the California Science Center. The girls were fantastic little angels the whole time we were there, and were surprisingly awake for a lot of our trip. We got some great pictures of the little ladies with the shuttle, and while they wont remember this trip, they will have the photos forever and we hope to make this a regular outing on our list of things to do. I look forward to when the girls can run around the gardens and to reading to them about all of the different exhibits.
