Catching up with this week

Just some random photos and thoughts from the last week...

Josie looking super cute in her I Love Kisses bib, which she is wearing thanks to a little bit of spit up she's been doing the past two weeks. Seems to be going away now thankfully.

omg I LOVE that face!!!! Almost a sly smile!

Cupcakes I made for my birthday on Sunday.
Sunday was my birthday and I wanted to take the opportunity to meet up with some friends and show off the girls. We went to a restaurant around the corner where we had a private room and were there for about 4 hours. The girls were fed once and did a great job just hanging out with all of the noise and people! It was really easy and a good exercise for me! I had a great time. That night, Barbara my mother in law and James let me sleep for a few feedings AND the girls also slept a really long stretch :)

4 a.m.
Lexie and I started the morning of my birthday by watching the Men's Hockey gold medal game! Yay Canada!

Took this shot of Lexie folding her hands on my shoulders - she is so cuddly!

Lexie in the Rock N Play
Because Josie has been spitting up a little (which I clearly over reacted about since it is actually clearing up significantly) we asked a friend if we could borrow her Rock n Play. It allows the baby to sleep in a slight upright position. Well both girls really love it, and rather than having the girls hang out in their car seats (which we had added padding to) the girls are nice and high up off the floor and their heads are secured. So after 24 hours of them sharing this, I just went for it and ordered a second one. I know they will only get about 4 more months use out of it but at $40...that's $10 a month well spent!

Having to take turns - but not for long!

Josie's turn to be happy in the Rock n Play!

Josie being ADORABLE at lactation class

Wednesday we went to lactation class. The best thing about class is seeing how much the girls have gained this past week and how much they are eating. Here are the numbers:

Lexie: Last week: 8lbs 2 ozs This week before: 8lbs 11 ozs And after: 8lbs 15 ozs

Josie: Last week: 7lbs 8 ozs This week before: 7lbs 13 ozs And after: 8lbs 1 ozs

Krista, Jack and the girls and I at lactation class. We really enjoy this 2 hour class each week where we get out of the house and relax, talk about the babies and catch up with other new moms.
My driver's view of the back seat mirrors looking in on the girls - heading home from class.

Sleepy Girls! 7 weeks

The girls slept a TON last night - Josie slept 8 hours. Yes, 8 hours. And Lexie slept 5 hours, which we will take, because until now, she has been an "I need to eat every 3 hours" kinda girl. This was a nice birthday weekend gift! I am so well rested, I am even making some birthday cupcakes today.

How cute are they in their headbands?

This is supposed to be the "2 week storm" - supposedly between 6 and 8 weeks, the babies will suffer more from gas, and spit up will be more intense, and they will be generally fussier. So we just found that out today, at the 7 week mark, which I guess is fine, since now we are half way through! We have definitely noticed these things, I even put a call into the Dr. earlier this week to ask about spit up, since it seemed excessive. Hopefully that is all just part of the "storm" and will ease up in a week.

This week the girls were a little more fun during "Gym Time" on their mat - they not only looked at the hanging toys, but they batted at the toys too, or they pulled them towards themselves! Josie is awesome and so much fun on her mat with her wide eyes and intrigue.  She even holds her pacifier and can put it back into her mouth on her own (yess!)

They still aren't doing super on demand genuine smiles consistently, but every once in a while you think you might be getting one. Lexie has found her voice and makes noises while playing in her gym, AND also knows how to get your attention when she is crying her cute little cry by adding loud (LOUD) yelps, though she hardly cries. Lexie is the most cuddly baby ever!

In other news, I'm down another couple of pounds, and have only 18 pounds left to lose before I am pre-pregnancy weight! Yay!!
