The girls just ended their last grumpy period of the wonder weeks. And I have to admit, they are again textbook. They have been a blast the last few days, totally fun and smiley and having the best time. They get a bit cranky if they aren't doing what they want to do - mostly if you aren't holding their hands and walking them around the house. But other than that, awesome little angels. Not that they were ever too cranky, just obviously not themselves.
They were fantastic on Thanksgiving. Even though their routine was thrown off, and there was a lot of commotion, they were well behaved and only fussed a little in that hour before bed, which is totally normal for them.

For Thanksgiving, we basically went back to our normal routine. I got up early and stuffed the bird then went and ran the Burbank Turkey Trot with Becky and my friend Missy. I've done that a few years now, obviously skipping last year (though I did go and cheer!) and another time I missed it because I was sick. Becky and Tom came over and we finished prepping food and ate a "late lunch" so we could eat leftovers the rest of the evening. We watched the Macy's parade, some football and a few episodes of Mystery Science Theater.

What's new with the girls? Well I think they are both close to standing on their own. They do it when they are "tricked" into it. Then as soon as they notice they are doing it, they sit or slam down. Josie is amazing at sitting back down, she is so gentle and controlled about it! Bending her knees nicely until she is right above the floor then swinging her leg around to sit. Alex is really good at sitting on her knees. She gets up that way to play with things out of her reach and will stay like that for a while! She's also getting so good at doing things on cue: clapping, touching her nose, doing twinkle fingers, waving hello or goodbye. I also think she is saying "hi" though its not very clear - but she knows what she is saying and it is in context.
We just, sadly, took down their music mobiles yesterday. A bit late but I didn't want to mess with their routine at the same time as helmets were going on. They had been standing in their cribs and playing with the mobiles and I didn't want the mobiles to fall on them or break, or worse, cause injury, so off they went. The girls did great without them and are doing great with the helmets. Alex has her two front teeth coming in and she is being a little champ with that, too - only a few times has she seemed uncomfortable and needs to chew on something. But, it is not affecting her sleep, thank goodness!
And finally! The girls' first birthday invitations came yesterday! I was already able to hand one out as our friend AJ came to visit yesterday :) We've decided to keep it ridiculously small since we will also be managing babies during the party, and I also wanted to invite and celebrate a few friends who have been super supportive to me this year, and always checking in to see if I need anything, even if its just an hour or two of company. Anyhow, amazing to already have these invitations here, and to think their party is in about a month!!! Ack!
