Paci Fairy

This weekend, Josie gave her paci to the paci fairy. We had taken it away a few months ago, but she had gotten sick right after and we gave it back to her - honestly she was just too young to understand and was very confused and distressed. Once she had it back, I wanted to wait until after our trip to Montreal to take it away again, since the pacifier does help with ear pain on the flights, and she would be meeting a lot of family and the pacifier does help her sooth when she is overwhelmed.

This time, we spent a few weeks talking about how the paci fairy was going to come, and reading books about the paci fairy. A friend of Josie's at the park had a new baby sister and we decided that the paci fairy should come and take the paci to give it to Baby June.

Friday night (in case this exercise would result in us being up in the middle of the night) we prepared a box for the paci, and Josie excitedly put her paci in the box for the paci fairy. (She looks super sad in the photo, but she was on board for the most part).

Then in the morning, the paci fairy had left a note and a present! These dolls were a gift from my aunt and uncle last October, and we had put them away for a special occasion and I couldn't think of a better one! The girls were thrilled with a new toy and they love them so much!

So far, she's been an amazing trooper - only a bit of sadness at bedtime when she realizes paci isn't in her crib. I am hoping that in another few nights everything will be back to normal and paci will be a thing of the past. I am so proud of Josie!!!
