24 weeks!

According to various sites on the internet, our little babies are each the size of either a cantaloupe, or a subway foot-long sandwich - which seems ginormous! They are each a little over a foot long and a pound and a half in weight.

We went to the Dr. today and they look amazing - strong heart beats, lots of movement and good fluid levels. They are still in their yin yang position, which is very comfy for mom and ideal for space for them.

I am measuring, get this, 32 weeks - that is 8 weeks ahead, and well into a third trimester size. But Dr was happy with weight gain and size, so nothing to worry about, in fact its just good news that babies are nice and big.

Just for fun, here is a comparison of 24 weeks with one baby, and 24 weeks with twins. It kind of bums me out how squished they are in there! Sorry guys, no stretching for you!

   
They are kicking up a storm in there, and due to baby B's position, I can really feel and see B's kicks. Thanks to that, Auntie Chey has named them Pebbles (A) and Bam Bam (B) - its fitting.

And these Hollywood babies want me to share this with everyone.

24 Weeks!

I don't look pregnant at all! In pregnancy related news: The babies either love or hate flying - they went WILD during take off and landing, packing some hard punches! It was kind of cute. We just got back from a wonderful trip to Boston to spend some time away and to attend Lisa and Bobby's wedding. The wedding was fantastic!! It was a really nice traditional Armenian ceremony, followed by a reception at a gorgeous hall with a skyline view of Boston and an amazing sunset.

Getting to Boston was great, too! We walked around our favorite old spots and some new traditions. We got to see a lot of our friends, which was super nice. And we had fun planning all of the sights we want to bring our little ones to when they are older. Trips to Boston will definitely always be in the plans. It was also great to be stress free for a few days, sleeping in a little and not being on a schedule.

23 weeks today!

Just a short update. 

We are 23 weeks today. I was looking through the milestones chart and realized I had not checked back to this weight gain recommendation since about 7 weeks, back when I had no appetite, never imagined we would make it safely to 23 weeks, and no clue how we would do this:

"It is generally recommended that moms expecting twins gain 24 pounds by 24 weeks of pregnancy (in order to reduce the chances of preterm labor). The American Pregnancy Association says women carrying twins are expected to gain 35 - 45 pounds during their pregnancy."

Well I can report with certainty that we have successfully reduced our chances of preterm labor. For those keeping tabs, I hit 30 lbs of weight gain this week. Oh. My. 

Happy Bump Day!

We will be 23 weeks tomorrow, and supposedly the babies will each be the size of a large mango...which is strange because I definitely think of mangoes as smaller than papayas. Regardless, they will still be about a foot long each, and about a pound and a quarter each. This week is the first week the babies know whether they are up or down, as their little ears are working. I think we have finally settled on some names for these little guys, too!

The next appointment wont be until next week 10/3, then we visit with the perinatologist on 10/7 - those appointments will start to be more regular, as well - every two weeks to make sure everyone is looking good.

The dress I am wearing does make the bump look bigger than it is, but I have to say, its pretty big, and very pointy. I could take people out with this thing.

23 weeks!

In non pregnancy news: It seems that our bathroom remodels are both done! It is so unbelievably dusty in our house, but there is no way I have the energy or dexterity to clean it. It will just have to wait until we get back from Boston and James and I can tackle it together!

22 Week Ultrasound

Babies are each the size of a Papaya



The papaya reference is interesting - papaya has always given me horrible heart burn since it is so acidic. Coincidentally, I started having horrible, constant heartburn just a few days ago. I got some great meds from the doc (who is usually anti medication, so these must be pretty safe) today to help with that.

Babies are about a foot long and about a pound each. Everyone was looking great!! Baby B was showing off his or her fancy foot work, which was extremely weird because I could not only see it, but I could feel it happening. Baby A was super chill.

I was given the final O.K. to head to Lisa's wedding in Massachusetts next week! So exciting to get away for a few days. It will be a while before James and I can sneak off together for a getaway!! Also exciting - James is on his way back from Croatia and should be home by 9 p.m. tonight. :)

Hump day - 22 weeks!

And a HUGE Happy Birthday to Aunt Stephanie!! Stephanie will be able to tell the twins all about sharing a birthday with someone you love, as her boyfriend Dave is also celebrating a birthday today! Lots of love to you both and can't wait to see you out here in L.A.!! And of course, love that the hockey talk has already begun, despite our distance.

22 Weeks

The little guys are super active lately - and starting to punch hard enough to see it, but they get shy when Auntie Becky is watching.  16 more weeks to go, thank goodness: its getting so uncomfortable to do anything, sitting in one position for too long gets painful, and any sort of activity makes me feel just absolutely exhausted - even just walking from my car to the front door. And I have almost completely lost the ability to put on socks. :(

OB appointment tomorrow to check for discordance, good growth progress and heart beats, as well as to make sure I am doing ok. Last time I was there, the OB gave me permission to go to Boston at the end of the month, so I am hoping that is still the case! We are really looking forward to the trip!

In other news: James is wrapping up a commercial he is shooting in Croatia. It seems like it has been a great experience for him, despite some failure to cooperate on the part of the weather. I taught my first official law school class last night! It was so much fun to be "Professor Crocket."  I have two more classes to teach this semester and I hope they budget for the program again next year, I would just love to make this a habit.

On Sunday I was lucky enough to be invited to a pre-season hockey game (Kings/Coyotes) with my friend Missy - who had some (gratis) tickets for a Luxury Suite! The Kings were not at their best, but it was so much fun to be at a hockey game again.

Score!

First - Very excited to say that my hockey buddies and I have purchased our first NHL Kings tickets of the season! We are going to the Sens/Kings game. My friend Missy was kind enough to secure some aisle seats so I wont bother the whole row every time I have to get up. Very excited! It will be the little roos' first hockey game, and I couldn't think of a better match up!

Second - The local twin club I joined has a bi-annual clothing swap. Expecting moms can bring a donation of $5 and participate, and twin moms bring their hand me downs and trade for the larger sizes. I was encouraged to come, then encouraged several times to "just take more" stuff. Then encouraged to take a free double snap n go stroller which, frankly, I wasn't going to bother getting, but hey why not, it was free. It was a ton of stuff (yet frankly, I think I had a lot less than many other people there! Especially since most was so gender specific). Oh! The other three expecting moms there were ALL having TWO girls, so I could have literally taken all of the boy stuff if I had wanted to - here are some pictures of the take:
