Happy Tuesday!

After a bath, we put on cute outfits

I look sadder than I am...I actually smiled for the first time today!

Nope, I am NOT going to smile again.

Five Weeks Old!

Josie and Lexie are five weeks old now. This week, the girls should be learning to smile. Both Josie and Lexie have been smiling a little bit - but nothing intentional. Also called "gas smiles" these smiles are followed by pooping noises or spit up. Hopefully we will see a nice real smile soon.

The girls are also noticing things - watching things that you put in front of them and kind of looking at us. They have also been holding their pacifiers and grabbing my hair. This is fun!

Alexandra suffers from Grunting Baby Syndrome - yes seriously. She doesn't know to relax her pelvic floor to poop. She grunts a LOT. Constantly. We look forward to her learning to handle this on her own, usually around 10 weeks old. In the meantime...grunt grunt!

Here are the girls at 5 weeks wearing the outfits I stupidly brought to the hospital to bring babies home in...I mean they do say "5 - 8 lbs" on the label, and I was told the babies would be 5+ lbs! They are even baggy on them today. Oh well, they are VERY cute in them!

Both babies are also super gassy. According to my baby 411 book, this passes (no pun intended) around 6 weeks. They have also started to spit up...a lot. This lasts until 6 months old. I guess both James and I are going to have to learn to live with this for a while!

At class on Wednesday, Alexandra weighed in at 6 pounds, 11 ounces!! And Josephine weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces! They are both on track and gaining appropriately. Happy mom.

It sure seems like we are just "waiting out" a lot of unfavorable stuff: gas, spit up, grunting baby syndrome, night feedings. Yup. This phase pretty much sucks. Good thing the girls are so cute!

Happy Friday

Let me start by saying that we LOVE our main stroller, it handles great, it is wonderful for walks in the neighborhood and will be great for long adventures (the zoo!) and it transitions from infant to children when the seats are added. What I didn't love about it is that it is not light, it barely fits into my trunk, it requires attachments to work with our car seats (boo!!) and the car seats don't "click" into it, as I was led to believe they would, they just get strapped on!

So, I purchased the above "Joovy Twin Roo" - with discounts from Babies R Us it was $90, and my aunt Denise had sent me a very generous gift card :D This stroller only works with the infant seats so it will not last longer than a year. However, OMG I LOVE IT!!! The car seats click right in, no attachments necessary! The seats sit sideways, so it is much shorter, and fits nicely in elevators. It is so light and folds so small, my mom easily loaded it into the trunk of my car! In LOVE.

Four weeks postpartum. Again, I am most excited about the fact that I am wearing real clothing. I seriously don't know why I didn't have a bunch of nursing tops on hand to come home to. What a "D'oh" moment.

I still have a pooch obviously, and hopefully when I am cleared to work out, and the girls start sleeping longer at night, then we can work on thinning that down. I have 29 lbs to shed.

The girls put together a little HBD photo shoot for cousin William's birthday. They slept or cried through most of it, but we got this silly shot!

One month olds!

We have a pair of one month olds! Wow!

All are doing good - no sleeping through the night yet, but we've got a pretty good schedule of eating every 3 hours going, which is nice. It will help us transition into sleep training nicely, which will start as soon as the girls hit 9 lbs.

James has gone back to work. I haven't really felt the effects of this yet, as my mom is here still to help with night feedings and be an extra hand - and my sister also came by to help. I was able to run an errand to Babies R Us, and we even mobilized and went for a walk.

I absolutely LOVE this carrier! Great for quickly
getting out of the house for some exercise.
James came home and was happy to hold babies and change diapers. Obviously missing the girls while he is away.

Here's a little video of Lexie taken by aunt Becky. Between moments of being cute, alert and playing in her gym, Lexie likes to spend her time grunting...constantly and loudly.
