This week in Pictures!

Busy work week this week, but I did get to spend some time with the girls on Wednesday while my nanny was at a dentist appointment :) We ate mac n cheese, played in the yard, and blew a lot of bubbles. Josie can actually dip the bubble wand and wave it around to make bubbles - its very impressive, but no matter how long she does it for, its never enough. Wednesday was a solid 45 minutes.

They put their hats on in the hopes of going "os-eye?"

The girls have had little attitudes lately. It has been a slow progression but its here in full force now. There are definitely things they don't like and don't want to do. Alex is very up front with her dislike and will push you away or throw her food or throw a toy or complain loudly. Josie always resorts to crying. If her faker cry doesn't work, she now has a new faker cry that sounds like the injury cry. Good times.

James's coworker went to Marakesh and brought back these ADORABLE
silk baby Pajamas - they are a bit big, but perfect for this recent heat wave!
I love Alex in these two photos - she was born the part!

Thank goodness, though, they are GREAT in public - we went out to eat on Saturday last weekend and they were totally cool for over an hour. OK there were still sippy cups dropped and protests and wanting to get out and run, but, they were far from the loudest kids in the restaurant, and overall well behaved. Can you blame them for wanting to try new stuff and discovery new things?

Are you hiding your shapes, Alex?

The "Face Book" we made for the girls is a HIT!

Where's grandmere?

Where's daddy?

James and I are good - both working hard, but getting ready to participate in our friends' wedding next week, so that will be some nice couple time together. We have plans with friends this weekend too. After the last few weeks of tummy viruses and work and separate guy and girl get togethers, we are looking forward to some couple time with friends.

In their adorable Carter's Playclothes. I overshot what size
the girls would be in and these are way too big, but we
have summer until October here, so they need to last!

I am enjoying keeping an eye on the Stanley Cup playoffs, I wish they were a tad bit later in the day so I could see the East coast games! I am still working towards some diet goals - a slow and steady progress, but I seem to have a bit more conviction now - the "I just had a baby" excuse is getting ridiculous now that the girls will be 16 months old. And we are working on the final details of our trip to Ottawa in October for my dad's 70th birthday, and Canadian Thanksgiving, and so that we can get all of the cousin babies together. :)

I have a million pictures of the girls eating - its just so easy to photograph
them when they are strapped down lol. This is while I was in Temecula, wine tasting
with friends. James made these beautiful lunches for the girls :) He's such a wonderful dad!

Stomach Flu and a Busy Week!

Last Friday James left for a guys weekend. I had girlfriends over to watch hockey and help with the girls. About 40 minutes after they left, I started to feel off. Then I got, what I have dubbed, the "corporate flu." I started getting sick around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, and felt almost 95% by Sunday evening. As if it had coordinated with my work schedule, so as to not miss any time in the office.

Friday morning before work (aka 2 hours ago)

My sister was amazing, and risked catching the flu (which she did) and came to help out. The girls were also amazing - they were so good about just playing together, and letting me lay down on the couch. Josie came and cuddled with me, and Alex would swing by and "check" on me with a big smile. My little nurses! :D

This week, work has just been busy, and we've had some appointments and visits from friends almost every night. Last night my girlfriend Ashley, who is ready to pop with baby #2, came over with her little one, Savannah, and the girls had the best time playing! Ashley will be enjoying the baby brezza and snuggy bunny for baby Walker, due May 7!

This weekend James and I are each having some free time - I'm taking the girls for a playdate on Saturday, and he's watching them Sunday so I can go wine tasting! :D

And here is a bunch of pictures!

Josie hugging the Ovi doll - bringing it good luck?

Those eyes and that little munchkin face are the BEST!

The girls dressed up to watch the Senators game!

Reading a story with Brittany Friday morning. They are OBSESSED with
putting on hats. So they had put these on themselves.

On the way to story time :D

The girls LOVE hummus. We didn't have it for a while due to the salmonella recall,
but I bought a new container and they cleaned their plates because they were dipping everything in hummus.
MMmm!

Playing at the water table last Friday.

Hanging out with me on the couch while I wasn't feeling too good - they were such little angels!

Sunday morning sword fights using our floor mats!

Get to know Lexie James and Josie Hiver

Lexie James Crocket

1.What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
Snacks - I love snacks. Or, my pointer and middle finger, those two fingers in my mouth, plus snuggling with guy, is how I like to nap.

I asked her to show me her tongue!
With special guest: Guy!
2.Where was your profile picture taken?
Hanging out in my awesome house.

3.Name someone who made you laugh today.
Mom made me laugh when she and I played peek a boo with Brittany. I was in mom's arms and I was cracking up having the best time trying to surprise Brittany.

4.How late did you stay up last night and why?
I was so tired! I stayed up until like 8:10! Mom let me watch a few extra minutes of Deep Space 9 because I was loving it.

5.If you could move somewhere else, would you?
No I love my house, especially my backyard, I want to hang out there all of the time!

6. When was the last time you cried really hard?
Gosh, only when I am super tired and cranky, but even then its not too hard. On Sunday I wasn't happy about not being able to play outside anymore, so that made me cry.

7. How do you feel about your life right now?
Awesome. I love story time, going to the park, my water table, backyard, playing with my parents and Brittany, going to the zoo and other adventures. I am learning new things like talking and using utensils. I just can't get enough.

8. Has anyone ever called you perfect before?
My parents, my grandparents, aunts and uncles, and pretty much everyone who has met me and knows how sweet and smiley I am.

9. What song is stuck in your head?
Its a tie between the Daniel Tiger's neighborhood and the songs my VTech tree house guys play.

10. What is your favorite color?
Purple, I like to play with things that are purple.

11. Do you smile a lot?
Definitely! I like to make a lot of other funny faces though!

1.What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
One of my two pacifiers, or my pointer finger, which I like to chew on when I am teething.

2.Where was your profile picture taken?
In my backyard!

3.Name someone who made you laugh today.
Brittany makes me laugh! And when daddy pretends to be a dog that really cracks me up!

4.How late did you stay up last night and why?
Until about 8:10 - I went straight to bed because I was so tired! Not a peep from me!

5. If you could move somewhere else, would you?
No I totally LOVE my house, I love running back and forth from the back of the house to the front, through the yard and spinning in circles in the kitchen. I like how close it is to the park and to story time!

Getting artsy with instagram
6. When was the last time you cried really hard?
Well, I don't really cry hard, but I like to cry a lot when things aren't going exactly how I like them to. So, its really easy for mom and dad to make me laugh when I am trying to cry over something silly.

7. How do you feel about your life right now?
Love love love. I am investigating everything, enjoying watching some kid shows, love being able to walk so I can play in the backyard and walk around at the zoo. I love my mom and dad and want to be in their arms all the time. I am so proud of myself for doing new things! Dogs still make me laugh when I see them.

8. Has anyone ever called you perfect before?
My parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and pretty much anyone who has met me and seen my gorgeous eyes.

9. What song is stuck in your head?
I like the Daniel Tiger song and I will dance to it when you play it on TV, I also like my VTech toys songs.

10. What is your favorite color?
I like all colors, I especially love to nest my colorful cups in the right order by size!

11. Do you smile a lot?
I think so! Especially when I am super happy!

15 months and the Zoo

The girls and I, along with my sister Becky, went to the zoo on Sunday. It was fun to let them toddle around though there were a few more vehicles (zoo maintenance type things and the zoo tram) than I would have liked to let them go totally free. They had a good time and it was nice to be out getting some sun and exercise.

Some new things recently: They are both using a fork! Not regularly by any means, but up until recently they needed us to skewer the food for them, but now they are doing it all on their own. With each bite, they display their accomplishment by holding up their fork with a big smile. :) I am so proud of them and it just kills me how cute they are with being proud of their own accomplishment. Alex is saying a ton of words - bath, guy, please, among others - and nodding her head when we ask her things that she wants to do. Josie is also communicating in her own way - not as clearly but she gets the idea across. Josie has full "babble" conversations, looks at us, and nods, like "you get it, right? You know what I just said?" its so sweet and I can't wait to actually know what she is saying.

I'm not sure what this face is? Mike Jagger impression?
The girls are looking soooo grown up all of a sudden. Jamey, Brittany and I all agreed this morning that we wouldn't mind "locking them in" right here. Adorable, fun, independent. Stop growing up little ones! hah!

My favorite new thing is when I get home and crouch down, I get two tiny hugs :D I love that they are hugging back now and love that they run over to give some love. :)

We suspect that the girls, who each have 8 teeth now, are getting more. Lots of "teething" signs and clinginess in the evenings. As I have reported before, they are on the very back end of the teething schedule so I am not at all surprised they are getting a few more!

Eating in public is still a bit of a challenge, but I figure if we do it more often, we will all get the hang of it?
There is magic in perfectly timing the arrival of our food and theirs.
If we don't hit that sweet spot, no one is enjoying themselves.

Making faces

Josie was not happy when I came home tonight - crying and clinging and unsettled. I was texting my sister about it and thought I'd snap a picture of Josie in my arms. I noticed as we were looking at the camera and image, Josie was copying the face I was making. So I made a few different faces and this series is the result!!! She tried VERY HARD to make the boo boo lip, which is funny because she must have no idea she does it all the time! Hah!

She kept looking at my fat lip and trying to make a fat lip herself!
