All About Alex

Happy Birthday Alexandra!

It has been such a pleasure getting to know you this past year. Our Alex, Lexie, Lexie Loo, Sweet Pea and my Sweet Girl.

I recently came across an old blog post from when we first got to see you in 3D. We reported: "Baby A was shy and hid his/her face." You are still our shy little girl. You take a few moments to warm up to new people. That's ok, because it makes those of us you smile for right away feel special.

You were our tiny sweet girl with the angelic face. I will always remember your perfect little cry then holding you right when you were born. Since day one you have done everything as you are supposed to! You were a champion nurser and gained all of the weight the doctors wanted you to.  You made mom and dad feel like we were doing everything right!

You were born with a little maple leaf birth mark on your back. You have beautiful big brown eyes and enviously thick long lashes. Your thick hair is finally growing in but has been sticking up in a tiny baby mohawk all year. You have nice full cheeks and adorable pursed lips and a cute button nose and a dimple in your chin. Your feet are absolutely perfect. Your little hands are so delightfully cute and pudgy!

You followed the guidelines for sleep training perfectly and have slept so well ever since. You love to nap and sleep. Putting you down for bed or for a nap is a dream - you snuggle your guy and suck your fingers and smile, so excited to take a nap and dream.

You made little grunting noises when we first brought you home. It was nice to know all was good when all we had to do was listen. You would make a little "ooooh" face, with your lips rounded and a furrowed brow. You still make the yummy noise "mmmm" when you are eating something you like. You vibrate your lips and make a brrrrrr noise just for fun. And now you say "hiiiii" and wave.

Your laugh is ADORABLE. Perfect little giggles and coos. You were our perfect little cuddly baby, you fit perfectly in my arms, and rested your hands on my shoulder when we snuggled. You practiced babbling, sitting and then crawling until you got them right. You love your bottles and are warming up to eating food. Even your cry is adorable and we love when you shout and squeal with glee.

You give us perfect little coy smiles. You are so aware and make sure we are watching when you do something new, like standing. You like to mimic what we do, and have been clapping and doing sing along hand motions for months now. You can get us to sing twinkle twinkle just by making hand motions.  I loved when you would tap dance in the jolly jumper and giggle with glee when we swing you.

You like to hold yourself up at the coffee table and watch TV. I think you like hockey best. You love to dance to music and bounce up and down whenever a tune is playing or when we sing to you. You like us to read you books and to look at the pictures. You like to knock over towers we build for you. You like to study new things closely to see how they work. You love to ride on your dad's shoulders.

You weren't sure about it at first but now you love to swim and be in the water. You have taken to sippy cups and seem to like them better than bottles, of course because you always follow the guidelines! You are so close to walking and are so excited when you stand on your own. You get so excited and giddy for new adventures! You truly are happy.

It is such a pleasure to be your mom and watch you grow and learn and love things!
