One day, as I was making yet another pitcher of formula (we went through two a day) and counting out 25 tiny scoops of powder, I thought "I should invent formula k-cups for the Keurig." Literally a few days later, I ran into a product add for the Baby Brezza Formula Pro. You stick the powder in the top, some filtered water in the reservoir, plug it in, turn it on, and voila - in minutes you can make as many bottles as needed, that come out pre-mixed and warmed.
Let me tell you why this is amazing for twin parents: When you use a bottle warmer to warm one bottle, it can't immediately warm a second bottle. You have to wait for it to cool, and that takes a long ass time, especially if you have a crying baby in your arms. Or worse, you are feeding one in your arms and the other is crying hungry in her bassinet. With the Formula Pro, you can make as many warm bottles as the reservoir will hold - about 6 bottles worth! And it really only takes a few minutes to warm another reservoir full of water.
This is a MUST HAVE for multiples.
I would highly recommend it to any parents who are going to make formula part of their feeding plan. No one wants to measure powder and water and deal with bottle warmers at 2 a.m., 4 a.m. and/or 6 a.m., whether you have a crying baby in your arms or not, and this magnificent Keurig for Babies takes all of the hassle and guesswork out of that!
Yes, you can buy pre-made formula. However, powdered is so much cheaper and the cost of the Brezza is still a cost savings over pre-made. Also, powdered is less thick, and doesn't stain. I noticed the girls' tummies handled the powdered way better than the pre-made stuff.
You can buy one here. Again, Baby Brezza doesn't pay me, but they should!!!
Tips:
- Take the whole thing apart and clean it once a month in super hot water and let it air dry overnight. Make sure it is completely dry before putting it back together.
- Every 4/5 bottles, remove the nozzle and wipe the dispenser clean with a super dry paper towel - any moisture will cause a clog.
- Don't panic if it starts making a little more or less than normal. That happens. Its still an appropriate mixture.
- Remember that the ounces measure the water, formula adds to the ounces, so the 4 oz choice, plus formula, will be a bit more than 4 oz. Choosing 6 ounces will make about 7 total.
- Once baby sleeps through the night - turn off the machine overnight, and give yourself five minutes in the morning to allow it to heat up again.
- The formula pro WILL work as soon as you turn it back on, but will not make warm bottles - which is totally fine once baby doesn't care about formula temperature.
- Warning: your baby may become spoiled with perfectly warmed bottles - and may have a hard time taking anything less than warm. (ahem, Josie). This was never a major problem but just something to keep in mind.
